Sorting Out the Three D’s: Delirium, Dementia and Depression

February 25, 2021 | 5:30 p.m.

Presented by Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA, Owner and CEO of Positive Approach to Care®, and nationally renowned Dementia Care Expert

As people age, their brains become more vulnerable to chemical changes, damage and disease. Recognizing the differences among these changes is vital in providing the best possible care and responding effectively when changes are noted.

Each of the three D’s: delirium, dementia and depression/ anxiety has a unique onset, duration, impact on alertness and arousal, possible causes and treatment recommendations. This session will help providers recognize and respond more accurately to reduce ‘non-helpful’ hospitalizations, prevent delays in medical attention for acute illness, non-treatment of treatable conditions and premature discharge of residents who might be able to stay in the community.

Baseball...At Any Age

Dad had been a baseball coach most of his life, and wanted more than anything to play again. So the folks at Artis Senior Living created a baseball diamond inside the community! When game day came, everyone turned out to play or cheer—staff, other residents and their families. The staff accommodated everybody—of all ages and abilities. Especially Dad. He got his wish. I couldn’t be more grateful.
